A 56-year-old man and his 17-year-old stepson were arrested early on New Year’s Day following a violent disturbance at a crash scene in the area of Silver Spur Loop and Longhorn Drive.
The incident began shortly after midnight at 12:09 a.m. when a woman riding a motorcycle near her home experienced a minor crash. Friends of the woman rushed to assist her, only to encounter Wilfredo Florenciani and his stepson, Angel Oliveras, who came out of their nearby residence, shouting at the group.
According to investigators, the confrontation quickly turned physical. Wilfredo reportedly punched a 21-year-old woman in the face and chest, slapped a 46-year-old woman with a flip-flop, struck a 24-year-old woman, and punched a 23-year-old man twice in the mouth.
The situation escalated when Angel allegedly brandished a handgun, and Wilfredo instructed him to “aim at his head.” Witnesses reported that several shots were fired at the male victim, missing him. Wilfredo then took the firearm from Angel and fired additional shots, also missing, as the victims fled.
The male victim told investigators he later fired shots into the ground to scare off the attackers but emphasized this occurred after being fired upon.
When questioned, Wilfredo, Angel, and Wilfredo’s wife denied the shooting and ownership of any firearms. However, detectives uncovered evidence linking the family to a .40-caliber Glock handgun purchased years earlier by Wilfredo’s wife. Three loaded .40-caliber pistol magazines wrapped in a rag were also discovered in the suspects’ yard.
Wilfredo, a convicted felon with a criminal history including grand theft and assault, is prohibited from possessing firearms. Angel, currently on probation, has prior arrests for burglary, grand theft, and other offenses.
Both suspects were taken into custody and face multiple charges:
- Wilfredo Florenciani was charged with attempted murder, four counts of battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, discharging a firearm in a residential area, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
- Angel Oliveras was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a juvenile, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, discharging a firearm in a residential area, and probation violation.
None of the victims sustained injuries during the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
