Olivier Ricardy Alexandre, 28, was sentenced to 240 months (20 years) in prison by U.S. District Court Judge David S. Leibowitz on January 3, 2025, following his guilty plea to charges of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. Alexandre, who previously pled guilty to a two-count indictment, was sentenced to an upward variance of 105 months, with the court citing his violent actions and criminal history.
The charges stemmed from two incidents in 2023. On March 13, Alexandre confronted a victim entering his home in Miami-Dade County and fired at least 18 rounds at him without reloading. This shooting was linked to multiple prior shootings, including one in October 2022 involving the same victim. Investigators discovered shell casings from the March incident matched those found at the previous shootings.
Less than two weeks later, on March 21, Alexandre confronted a tow truck driver who was repossessing a vehicle outside his home in Plantation. Armed with a handgun and an extended drum magazine, Alexandre threatened the driver before being arrested by authorities.
Alexandre’s criminal record includes a felony conviction for trafficking marijuana, for which he was sentenced to probation in February 2023, just a month before the shooting incidents. Law enforcement agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Plantation Police Department, and Broward Sheriff’s Office, worked together to investigate the case.
U.S. Attorney Markenzy Lapointe, Special Agent in Charge Christopher A. Robinson of ATF’s Miami Field Division, Acting Inspector in Charge Steven Hodges of USPIS, and MDPD Director Stephanie V. Daniels announced the sentence. Assistant U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne prosecuted the case.
