The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) announced the arrest of 27-year-old Davion Murphy in connection with the June 23, 2024, shooting death of Jacksonville rapper Charles Jones, known as Julio Foolio, in Tampa.
Murphy was taken into custody by JSO’s SWAT team, Gang Unit, and the U.S. Marshals Service on Sunday evening at an apartment on Labelle Street in Jacksonville. He was interviewed by detectives and booked into the Duval County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on charges of murder.
This arrest marks the fifth in the ongoing investigation. In July, JSO arrested four other suspects: 21-year-olds Isaiah Chance and Alicia Andrews, 18-year-old Sean Gathright, and 30-year-old Rashad Murphy.
The JSO has worked closely with the Tampa Police Department throughout the investigation.
“This arrest highlights our commitment and perseverance to solving this murder,” said JSO Director of Investigations and Homeland Security Mark Romano. “While it took some time, JSO and our partners worked daily to hold these individuals accountable.”
The case remains under investigation.
