On Monday, January 13, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Gretna Fire Rescue provided mutual aid to Midway Fire and Rescue Service following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 at Mile Marker 185 on the Little River Bridge.
First responders from Midway Fire and Gadsden County Emergency Services arrived at the scene to find multiple injured patients requiring immediate care. During an initial search, one patient was discovered approximately 50 feet below the bridge.

Led by Chief Danny Hunter, a team from Midway Fire, Quincy Fire Department, and Gadsden County Emergency Services descended the embankment to reach the injured individual. The City of Tallahassee Fire Department’s heavy rescue team also responded, utilizing high-angle rescue techniques to secure and lift the patient to safety.
The critically injured patient was trauma-alerted and transported to Tallahassee for advanced medical care. The incident highlights the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies to ensure a successful rescue under challenging circumstances.
