On January 9, 2025, a Lake County deputy conducting proactive patrols on CR 44 in Leesburg performed a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired registration.
During the stop, a Lake County K-9 unit conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert. A subsequent search uncovered a baggie of cocaine hidden beneath the front passenger seat.
The passenger, identified as 33-year-old Christopher Decotis, was arrested at the scene and transported to the Lake County Jail. He has been charged in connection with the narcotics discovery.
