Escambia County Breaks Ground on New Fallen Officer Memorial

On Thursday, January 16, 2025, more than 200 members of the Escambia County community gathered for the official groundbreaking of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office’s new Fallen Officer Memorial.

Sheriff Chip W. Simmons addressed the crowd, saying, “Our current memorial has been a solemn site of reflection, where we remember the lives lost in the line of duty. But we dream of something more – a memorial that doesn’t sit apart from us but welcomes us in. A space that invites families, friends, and neighbors to gather, to grieve, and to find peace together.”

Thanks to the support of the Escambia County Sheriff Foundation, no taxpayer dollars will be used in the construction of the new memorial. The project has received valuable support from Caldwell Architects and Hanto + Clarke.

Those interested in supporting the memorial can reach out to the Escambia County Sheriff Foundation at info@escambiacsf.org.
