Motorcycle Chase in Citrus County Leads to Arrest of Convicted Felon

On Monday night, January 20, 2025, Citrus County Deputy Danner initiated a short pursuit after noticing a motorcycle without a license plate in Beverly Hills. The driver, 21-year-old Cody Garret McKendree, attempted to flee but lost control of the motorcycle on N. Vonnegut Pt. and continued on foot. He was apprehended one street over on N. Michener Pt. by K9 Cairo.

A search of the motorcycle revealed a Colt 1911 handgun. McKendree, a convicted felon on felony probation for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, was taken into custody.

McKendree was booked at the Citrus County Detention Facility under the following charges:

  • Fleeing/Eluding Law Enforcement Officer
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Resisting Officer Without Violence
  • Operating Vehicle Without a Valid Driver’s License
  • No Motor Vehicle Registration
  • Operating Motorcycle Without Endorsement
