Tallahassee Man Arrested in Series of Student Housing Burglaries

The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) has arrested Daniel L. Wright III, 32, in connection to a series of residential burglaries targeting student housing. Wright faces multiple charges, including burglary of a dwelling, armed burglary, and grand theft of a firearm. He was taken into custody on January 17th.

The investigation began after TPD patrol officers responded to multiple burglary calls at student rental properties on the 1600 block of Airport Drive, the 200 block of North Lipona Road, and the 600 block of Kyle Street.

These cases were assigned to TPD’s Burglary Crimes Unit (BCU), and patterns in the incidents were identified by the Crime Analyst Unit (CAU). Investigators noted that all the crimes occurred during the evenings and school breaks. After a thorough investigation, BCU detectives established probable cause for Wright’s arrest.

The following burglaries were identified during the investigation:

  • 1600 block of Airport Drive – Case #24-33190 (February 25, 2024)
  • 200 block of North Lipona Road – Case #24-001775 (November 25, 2024)
  • 1600 block of Airport Drive – Case #24-209370 (December 8, 2024)
  • 600 block of Kyle Street – Case #24-209370 (December 9, 2024)

Wright has been charged with three counts of burglary of a dwelling, armed burglary of a dwelling, three counts of felony theft, and grand theft of a firearm. He is currently in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
