Two Teens Arrested for Murder After Victim Found in Tallahassee Roadway

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that left a man dead in the roadway on the 1800 block of Meriadoc Road early Tuesday morning.

The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) responded to the scene at approximately 7:11 a.m. on January 29, where they found the victim deceased. Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit launched an investigation, collecting evidence and developing probable cause for the arrests of Thailan Williams, 17, and Deshan Jones, 19.

Investigators determined that at approximately 1:14 a.m., the victim had driven Williams and Jones to the location before exiting the vehicle. Without any apparent altercation or provocation, the victim was shot. The suspects then fled in the victim’s vehicle, with Jones driving.

At approximately 3:09 a.m., a Florida Highway Patrol officer attempted a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle near the Leon-Jefferson County Line. The driver fled, leading to a crash near the Jefferson County Courthouse. Williams and Jones escaped on foot.

The United States Marshals Task Force apprehended both suspects the following day near the 4100 block of Jackson Bluff Road without incident.

Both suspects face charges of First-Degree Murder and Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle. The Tallahassee Police Department expressed gratitude to all agencies involved in bringing justice to the victim’s family.
