A man suspected of fatally shooting two people and injuring two others during a robbery in Gadsden County was shot and killed by law enforcement Friday morning after he wounded a Suwannee County Sheriff’s Deputy and fired at multiple officers.
The Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter-in-place warning at 6:30 a.m. for residents near US 90W, east of 129th Road, and north of US 90. Deputies were searching for the suspect, described as a Black male wearing dark clothing and armed with at least one handgun, who fled on foot after shooting a deputy near US 90 West, close to Goldkist Blvd and Wayne Friers Home Center of Live Oak.
Authorities confirmed that after an extensive search, the suspect was located later in the morning. He was shot and killed after firing at additional law enforcement officers.
The injured deputy was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Law enforcement agencies from multiple jurisdictions responded to the incident.
