Teen Arrested for Shooting Two Bystanders in St. Petersburg Basketball Court

St. Petersburg Detectives arrested 18-year-old Antwon Jones in connection with a shooting that injured two bystanders on February 11, 2025.

The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. in the 1400 block of 15th Street South, where a conflict between two groups escalated. Jones allegedly fired shots at the opposing group, but the bullets struck two innocent bystanders. A 40-year-old man and his 10-year-old nephew were outside playing basketball at the time.

The child suffered serious injuries but is currently in stable condition, while the uncle was treated and released from the hospital.

Jones faces charges of two counts of Attempted Felony Murder, Delinquent in Possession of a Firearm, and two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance (ecstasy and cocaine).
