Manatee County Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for 2022 Homicide

A Manatee County jury found Albert Wilcox guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2022 homicide of Sherline White.

The incident occurred on February 26, 2022, when BPD dispatchers received a call from a woman reporting that someone was pointing a gun at her. The call then disconnected, prompting officers to respond to the 200 block of 11th Ave E. There, they found Ms. White deceased behind the wheel of her car.

Witnesses told investigators that Wilcox had been acting aggressively, firing a gun in the air, and arguing with White, who was his girlfriend’s mother. As White attempted to leave in her car, Wilcox shot her multiple times.

BPD quickly issued a BOLO for Wilcox, and he was located several hours later in Glades County. Wilcox confessed to the killing.

Sergeant Andres Perez led the investigation, with assistance from the Manatee Homicide Investigation Unit.
