South Carolina Murder Suspect Arrested in Gainesville with Weapons

A South Carolina man wanted for murder was arrested in Gainesville on February 13, 2025.

William Barney Drummond, 43, was taken into custody by the Gainesville Police Department without incident. During the arrest, officers discovered a firearm, additional weapons, narcotics, and counterfeit cash in Drummond’s possession.

Earlier that day, Gainesville Police and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force coordinated with Oconee County Investigators in South Carolina, suspecting Drummond had fled to Gainesville following the murder. Officers tracked him to Queen City Parkway, where he was located walking along the roadway.

Drummond remains in the Hall County Jail, awaiting extradition to South Carolina.
