On February 12, 2025, at approximately 8:00 PM, a Lake County deputy conducting proactive patrol on State Road 46 in Sorrento initiated a traffic stop after observing a driver commit a traffic infraction. As the vehicle pulled over, the deputy noticed the passenger discard an item from the window. Upon retrieving the item, deputies identified it as a cigarette box containing multiple syringes and baggies with a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for cocaine. The passenger, 41-year-old Jason Baisden, was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail. While at the jail, deputies discovered an additional baggie of cocaine in his shoe. Baisden faces charges including felony introduction of contraband into the facility.
