The Live Oak Police Department is investigating a homicide after a man was found deceased at the scene of a vehicle crash on February 21st, 2025.
Officers responded to a vehicle crash at approximately 7:30 a.m. in the area of 424 Johnson Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a damaged 2010 Silver Audi 2-door with evidence of both a crash and gunfire.
Joseph Simmons, a white male and the registered owner of the vehicle, was found deceased at the scene. He is believed to have been the driver.
Based on preliminary findings, a homicide investigation is being conducted. Simmons’ family has been notified.
The Live Oak Police Department, in cooperation with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, is actively pursuing evidence, witness testimony, and other investigative leads. The investigation is ongoing.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Live Oak Police Department or the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and not to take any independent action.
