St. Petersburg Man Charged with Murder After Mistaking Vehicle in Fatal Pursuit

Investigators in St. Petersburg have upgraded charges against 33-year-old Kyle Hill from DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide to first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder following a fatal crash on March 9, 2025.

Shortly before 8 p.m., Hill reportedly argued with his ex-girlfriend, who then left in a friend’s vehicle. Hill drove his Nissan SUV in an attempt to locate her.

While traveling south on 34th Street near 30th Avenue North, Hill saw a Honda and mistakenly believed it was his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle. He called his ex-girlfriend, threatened her, and began aggressively pursuing the Honda for several blocks.

The Honda was occupied by 35-year-old Norbelis Figueredo-Campos and his passenger, 28-year-old Arislenni Blanco-Medina. The couple was heading to Walmart when Hill forced them off the road near 17th Avenue North. The Honda struck a concrete pole, which fell and crushed the vehicle. Blanco-Medina died, and Figueredo-Campos sustained serious injuries.

Hill lost control of his SUV and crashed into a tree in the median. Authorities reported his blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
