United States District Judge Thomas P. Barber has sentenced Rudy Salazar, 37, of Dade City, to 15 years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute and possessing with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine.
Salazar pleaded guilty to the charges on December 3, 2024. According to the plea agreement, between January and November 2023, Salazar trafficked approximately 11.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, 39 grams of cocaine, and 30 grams of fentanyl within Pasco County. Salazar took extra precautions when selling fentanyl, including wearing a mask and gloves and warning buyers about the risks of touching or ingesting the drug.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Tampa Police Department, and the Pasco Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution was led by Assistant United States Attorney David J. Pardo.
