Steven Kyle Maddox, 40, was arrested on March 20, 2025, after a search warrant was executed at his residence by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) High-Tech Crimes Unit (HTCU).
The investigation began following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). HTCU Detective Ben Wilson conducted an investigation that identified Maddox as being involved in the possession and distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
“Maddox used his electronic devices to possess and transmit CSAM, leaving behind a trail of clues leading to his identity,” said HTCU Sergeant Tiffany Barry. “Detective Wilson did an excellent job following that trail and building a strong case against Maddox. His dedication to pursuing these types of cases is exceptional.”
Maddox was transported to the Citrus County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond. He has been charged with:
- Three Counts of Possession of Child Pornography
- One Count of Transmission of Child Pornography
The CCSO is continuing to monitor the case, and further charges are pending.
