Speeding Stop Leads to Major Drug Bust in Clay County

A routine traffic stop for speeding in Clay County resulted in the arrest of two Jacksonville residents on multiple drug trafficking charges.

Over the weekend, Clay County Deputy Gelsomino and his trainee stopped a vehicle traveling 62 mph in a 45 mph zone near Creighton Rd.

During the stop, deputies seized:

  • 79.33 grams of methamphetamine
  • 67.01 grams of cocaine
  • 90.08 grams of marijuana
  • A large amount of drug paraphernalia

The two individuals were arrested and face charges of trafficking methamphetamine and trafficking cocaine, among other charges.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) for their assistance at the scene and commended the deputies for their diligence in the arrest.
