Woman Out on Bond Arrested Again After Attempting to Flee with Large Quantity of Drugs

Samantha James, 29, was arrested on March 24, 2025, after attempting to flee from law enforcement with a significant quantity of drugs.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit observed James, who had an active felony arrest warrant and was out on bond for prior drug sales, in the parking lot of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet. Detectives requested assistance from the CCSO STAR (Strategic Targeted Area Response) team to apprehend her.

Upon the arrival of the STAR team, James attempted to flee in a gold Jeep Cherokee. She backed into a parked vehicle and then drove forward, striking a tree. James then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.

A search of James’ vehicle revealed the following drugs:

  • 16 grams of Fentanyl
  • 72.4 grams of Methamphetamine
  • 4.7 grams of Cocaine
  • 51 grams of Marijuana
  • 10.9 grams of Alprazolam
  • 10.8 grams of Psilocybin

James was charged with Violation of Supervisor Release, Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Fentanyl, and Possession of Cocaine, Marijuana, Alprazolam, and Psilocybin. She is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond.

“Here is a young lady that has chosen a life of poison-pushing even after having already been arrested for it. As you can see in her mugshot, she doesn’t really seem to care, either. So now, my Corrections staff will be seeing a lot more of that smiling face, because she is not being given another opportunity to bond out. Thank you to my Narcotics and STAR teams for their outstanding work in locating and bringing ‘Smiley’ back to jail,” said Sheriff Bill Prummell.
