Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Releases Details and Video of Officer-Involved Shooting

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has released preliminary details and video footage of an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Ribault Avenue in the Osceola Forest neighborhood on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Officer A.C. Gaulding was conducting a traffic deployment when he attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Brandon White. White failed to stop immediately, passing multiple safe locations before pulling into a driveway. Upon stopping, White opened fire on Officer Gaulding, striking him in the foot. Officer Gaulding returned fire while seeking cover.

White then retrieved a rifle and attempted to exit his vehicle. Officer Gaulding fired again, incapacitating White. Additional officers arrived on scene and provided emergency medical care before White was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Crime scene detectives confirmed that White was wearing body armor during the shooting.

The State Attorney’s Office will conduct an independent review of the incident to determine the legality of Officer Gaulding’s actions. Following that review, JSO will carry out an internal review and convene a Response to Resistance Board to assess the situation. The findings will be submitted to the Sheriff for final review.

JSO has released this information to ensure transparency, and the investigation remains ongoing.
