Suspect Flees, Suwannee County K9 Officer Tracks Him Down; DUI Arrest Made Later

Suwannee County Sheriff’s Deputies made two arrests during overnight patrols, one involving a fleeing suspect and the other a DUI.

In the northern part of the county, Sergeant Tommy Roberts attempted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver, however, fled in the vehicle and then abandoned it, fleeing on foot. K9 Corporal Justin Stout and his K9 partner Thor were deployed to track the suspect. Thor successfully located Dalton Holcomb hiding nearby. Holcomb, who had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear and was wanted in connection to a prior criminal case in Suwannee County, was arrested. He was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, in addition to the existing warrant.

Meanwhile, in the southern part of the county, Deputy Dustin Wagner stopped a silver Ford Mustang clocked at 83 mph in a 60 mph zone on SR 247. During the stop, the driver provided a debit card instead of a driver’s license, raising Deputy Wagner’s suspicions of impairment. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol and using a THC vape pen prior to driving. After failing field sobriety exercises, the driver, identified as Rachel Rodgers, was arrested for DUI and possession of controlled substances. She was transported to the Suwannee County Jail.

The Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office commended Sergeant Roberts, K9 Corporal Stout, K9 Thor, and Deputy Wagner for their successful operations.
