The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Julie Murphy, 58, on charges of attempted murder following a shooting incident in Callahan on Monday morning, April 7, 2025.
At approximately 6:45 a.m., deputies responded to an emergency call reporting a shooting on Pickett Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a victim lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
Witness statements indicate that Murphy and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation outside a residence on Pickett Street. The dispute escalated into the street, where Murphy allegedly shot the victim in the back and then fired additional rounds as the victim lay wounded.
Investigators recovered eight shell casings and one bullet projectile from the scene.
Sheriff Bill Leeper stated, “This appears to be an isolated domestic-related incident. Preventing domestic violence requires our entire community working together. It’s crucial that we educate everyone about healthy relationships, offer support to those in need, and foster an environment where violence is not tolerated.”
Murphy is currently being held at the Nassau County Jail and Detention Facility on a bond exceeding one million dollars.
