Man Sentenced to 25 Years After Fentanyl Trafficking, Carjacking Attempt in Citrus County

23-year-old William Thomas Lindo II was found guilty on Wednesday, April 9th, on multiple felony charges stemming from a 2023 arrest, including Trafficking in Fentanyl, Burglary of an Occupied Conveyance, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and Resisting a Law Enforcement Officer without Violence.

The incident that led to Lindo’s arrest occurred in October 2023 when Citrus County deputies attempted a traffic stop on a dark sedan with a license plate that registered to a white van. Lindo, the driver, refused to stop, leading deputies to deploy tire deflation devices. Even after his tires were damaged, Lindo continued to evade capture by turning off his vehicle’s lights and driving in the dark.

Lindo eventually stopped the car and fled on foot. His attempt to carjack a juvenile male was unsuccessful, and he continued to run before being tracked down and apprehended by K-9 Deputy Danner and his partner, Riggs, who located him hiding beneath a van.

A subsequent search of Lindo’s vehicle, prompted by a K-9 alert, revealed 25.33 grams of fentanyl.

As a result of his conviction on the multiple charges, William Thomas Lindo II has been sentenced to 25 years in the Florida Department of Corrections, with a minimum mandatory sentence of 20 years.

Authorities commended the work of K-9 Deputy Danner, Deputy Pendleton, Detective Bang, and Communications Officer Robison on the case, as well as the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office and Assistant State Attorneys Patsey Jacobs and Tara Hartman for their successful prosecution.
