A local man who worked for Norwegian Cruise Line was booked into the Nassau County Jail last night on felony charges of possession of child sexual abuse material. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) announced the extradition of Theodore Burbank Pappas, 47, of Fernandina Beach, from Los Angeles back to Florida on Thursday. Pappas was arrested earlier this month by Los Angeles Port Police.
According to the FDLE, the arrest is a result of their statewide initiative targeting individuals who share files depicting the sexual abuse of children online.
The FDLE’s investigation began in July 2023 after agents received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children regarding an online account uploading child sexual abuse material. The investigation traced the uploads back to Pappas’ account, which was registered in Nassau County. Authorities also discovered Pappas was employed by Norwegian Cruise Line.
Pappas is currently being held at the Nassau County Jail and Detention Facility on a bond exceeding one million dollars.
