Joshua Simmons Jr., 20, has been arrested and charged with Domestic Aggravated Battery following a domestic dispute where both he and his girlfriend sustained injuries.
On April 27, 2025, Hernando County deputies responded to an apartment at The Villas at Spring Hill off Degas Lane after Simmons’ grandmother called 9-1-1, reporting that her grandson had possibly been stabbed by his girlfriend. Upon arrival, both individuals had left the scene.
The female victim later returned and told investigators that an argument began when Simmons accused her of infidelity. She stated that when Simmons grabbed her phone, a physical altercation ensued. She alleged that Simmons pinned her down, choked her, and punched her in the face and ribs. She also claimed Simmons bit her hands and face.
The victim reported that she managed to grab a kitchen knife and stab Simmons in the back while he was on top of her. After being stabbed, Simmons allegedly gained control of the knife and punched her once more before fleeing the residence with their child.
During his interview, Simmons claimed the victim was the aggressor. However, investigators noted that Simmons provided numerous conflicting statements about the incident.
Following medical clearance for his stab wound, Joshua Simmons Jr. was arrested and transported to the Hernando County Detention Center. He is being held on a $2,500 bond.
