14-Year-Old Middle School Student in Gainesville Arrested for Mass Shooting Threats

A 14-year-old student at Kanapaha Middle School was arrested on Monday, May 12, 2025, after authorities traced multiple violent threats made on social media to her.

According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO), school officials contacted law enforcement on Wednesday, May 7, and Thursday, May 8, 2025, regarding separate threats to shoot and kill students on Friday, May 9. Both threats were posted under the same social media account and included statements such as, “Kanapaha hall kids……I will be there on Friday…..y’all kids gon be dead and shot,” and “Tomorrow I will be there…Have my guns ready…”

Using the account’s IP address and other investigative methods, deputies and detectives identified the suspect as 14-year-old Jasz’myne Alexander, a student at the school.

Alexander was taken into custody and charged with two felony counts of Written/Electronic Threat of a Mass Shooting/Terrorism Act.
