Woman Arrested as Getaway Driver in Husband’s Collier County Armed Robbery Spree

A 32-year-old Lehigh Acres woman has been arrested for allegedly acting as the getaway driver for her husband during five armed robberies at businesses in Collier County.

Crystal Garza is now lodged in the Collier County jail, facing five counts of armed robbery with a firearm. Her husband, Christopher Arrick Townsend, 37, has been in custody since February 27, already charged with multiple armed robberies.

Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk stated, “This individual was a willing participant in multiple violent crimes in our county, and now she will be held accountable for her criminal actions. I am committed to keeping Collier County safe, and we will pursue those who think they can threaten the security of our community.”

Detectives say Garza drove Townsend to the targeted businesses in a white Mini Cooper. While armed with a gun and concealing his face, Townsend allegedly robbed each establishment of cash, with Garza acting as his lookout and getaway driver.

Garza was apprehended this week and charged in connection with the following armed robberies, all of which occurred in Immokalee:

  • Jan. 1 at New Market Services, 101 E. New Market Road
  • Jan. 11 at Capital Pawn, 330 New Market Road W.
  • Feb. 2 at Handy Food Store, 501 N. 15th. St.
  • Feb. 3 at Sunoco gas station, 516 W. Main St.
  • Feb. 4 at L&W Mini Mart, 102 New Market Road E.
