Gainesville Man Charged After 22,000+ Child Porn Files Found on Seized Devices

A Gainesville man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts related to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) following an investigation initiated by a CyberTip from Microsoft to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Fifty-year-old William Kiefer was taken into custody after a detailed investigation led by Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Detective J. Dawson, a member of the joint Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

The investigation began on March 30, 2025, when NCMEC received a CyberTip from Microsoft regarding suspected CSAM. On April 9, Detective Dawson confirmed the material as CSAM and successfully identified Kiefer’s IP address as being linked to the content.

On May 8, a search warrant was executed at Kiefer’s residence, where investigators collected 68 electronic devices. A second search warrant was issued on May 20 for a digital forensic review of these devices. An initial review of just one device has already revealed over 22,000 files, with approximately 100 of those confirmed to contain CSAM. A full analysis of all seized devices is ongoing, and additional charges are pending.

Kiefer has been charged with 12 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Digital Transmission of Child Pornography.

Authorities urge anyone who suspects child exploitation to report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST or via CyberTipline.org.
