Fast Food Dispute Turns Deadly: Checkers Employee Accused of Murder in Kissimmee Shooting

A Checkers employee has been arrested and charged with first-degree premeditated murder following a fatal shooting at the restaurant located at 5780 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway on the night of May 21, 2025.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 10:10 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Deputies identified the victim as Wesley Robertson, who had been involved in a verbal altercation with a Checkers employee, later identified as 23-year-old Elijah Travis Mackey.

According to investigators, the dispute between Mackey and Robertson escalated during a disagreement over a food order. During the confrontation, Mackey allegedly produced a firearm and shot Robertson.

Robertson was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

On May 22, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit obtained a warrant for Mackey’s arrest on a charge of first-degree premeditated murder. He was taken into custody and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
