A 33-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon, May 29, 2025, following an armed robbery at the Liquor Plus store in Floral City and a failed attempt to flee deputies in a stolen vehicle.
According to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), 33-year-old Trevor Shane Kilpatrick entered the store wearing a hoodie and face covering, brandished a firearm, and demanded cash and cigarettes. After taking the items, Kilpatrick fled on foot across US Highway 41 into a nearby wooded area.
Just minutes later, K-9 Deputy Elias spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier in the week. When deputies attempted to stop the car, the driver fled at a high rate of speed down E. Trails End Road before losing control and crashing off the roadway. The suspect then ran into the woods.
Deputy Elias pursued Kilpatrick and, after encountering resistance, deployed a taser to take him into custody.
Deputies later confirmed Kilpatrick was the suspect in both the Liquor Plus robbery and the stolen vehicle incident. Evidence recovered from the vehicle included the stolen money, cigarettes, and clothing matching the robbery suspect’s description.
Kilpatrick, a five-time convicted felon who was already under investigation for an unrelated burglary, was arrested and charged with:
- Robbery with a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Grand Theft of a Firearm
- Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Grand Theft
- Resisting a Law Enforcement Officer with Violence
- Fleeing and Eluding
- Burglary of a Dwelling
- Driving while License Suspended/Revoked
- Petit Theft
He is currently being held without bond at the Citrus County Detention Center.
