Eight years after a 39-year-old woman was found dead in the parking lot of a church on Soutel Drive in Jacksonville’s Harborview area, homicide detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) have made an arrest in the case.
Sixty-five-year-old Percy Johnson has been taken into custody and is now facing a murder charge in connection with the woman’s death. Johnson is identified as a registered sexual predator with a history of cases in both Jacksonville and St. Johns County, with one case dating back nearly 30 years.
JSO emphasized its ongoing commitment to solving cold cases, stating that detectives never stop looking for answers when a person is killed, regardless of the time that passes. The agency affirmed it will work closely with the State Attorney’s Office to bring justice to the victim’s family. Johnson is currently being held at the Duval County jail.
