Alert Citizen and Quick Police Work Lead to Arrests in Collier County Burglary

Two individuals were arrested on felony burglary charges less than an hour after a vigilant citizen, observing a live feed from his doorbell camera, alerted the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) to a break-in at his home Tuesday night.

The homeowner, who was not present at the time, witnessed a man and woman entering his residence through the front door and stealing his property in real-time. Deputies responded swiftly and reviewed the home security video. The footage showed the female suspect wearing a business shirt with a phone number, which, along with other investigative means, quickly led deputies to identify 50-year-old Samuel Lee Hayes, a convicted felon and career offender from Lehigh Acres, as a suspect.

With assistance from CCSO’s Real-Time Operations Center (ROC), the suspect vehicle, a white Chevy Tahoe SUV, was located in the 3300 block of Airport-Pulling Road. Shortly thereafter, deputies apprehended Hayes and Ciara Natkinya Armbrister, 34, also of Lehigh Acres, as they attempted to re-enter the SUV. Both suspects were wearing the same clothing seen in the home security video.

Sheriff Kevin Rambosk commended the collaborative effort: “This was great police work and incredible teamwork by our vigilant resident, patrol deputies and ROC analysts. My message is clear, if you come to Collier County to commit criminal activity, we will locate you and arrest you, and you will be held accountable.’”

Hayes and Armbrister are currently being held in the Collier County jail, each charged with felony burglary.
