The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has arrested a substitute teacher for allegedly sharing and displaying multiple sexual images, including bestiality, to students at Jennings Middle School.
On December 9, 2024, while in a classroom, 22-year-old Chase Rush reportedly instructed his 7th-grade students to “turn on” their AirDrop function on Apple devices. Detectives learned that Rush then sent content containing nudity and bestiality to four students with iPhones. Furthermore, investigators discovered that seven other students had gathered around Rush as he showed them the same explicit material.
During an interview with HCSO detectives, Rush also admitted to showing the same content to his 12-year-old relative.
On June 10, 2025, Rush was arrested and charged with:
- Film, Distribute, or Possess Image or Video of Sexual Activity with an Animal (9 counts)
- Sell or Distribute Obscene Material to a Minor (8 counts)
- Transmission of Harmful Material to Minor (4 counts)
- Unlawful Use of Two-Way Communications Device
Sheriff Chad Chronister condemned Rush’s actions, stating, “It’s revolting to think that someone trusted to educate and guide our children could act in such a predatory and disgraceful manner. This man used his role as a teacher to prey on kids. He had every opportunity to be a positive influence; instead, he chose to become a predator.”
Authorities clarified that Rush was employed by Kelly Education and is not an employee of Hillsborough County Public Schools. The investigation remains active.
