Around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, emergency crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue and Gainesville Fire Rescue responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash in the 7100 block of East Newberry Road, beneath the overpass.
First responders arrived to find the vehicle on its side with the driver trapped inside. Firefighters quickly deployed specialized equipment and executed a “roof flap” extrication technique. The occupant was safely removed from the vehicle within 10 minutes of the operation beginning.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
