Man Arrested for Trafficking Fentanyl-Laced Meth in South Florida Distribution Network

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the South Florida State Assistance for Fentanyl Eradication (S.A.F.E.) Task Force have arrested 51-year-old Jayram Ruiz Roche of Opa-Locka on multiple felony drug charges related to a fentanyl trafficking operation.

Ruiz Roche faces one first-degree felony count of trafficking amphetamine between 28 and 200 grams, one count of trafficking amphetamine between 14 and 28 grams, and two second-degree felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. His arrest follows a S.A.F.E. Task Force investigation that began in January.

According to FDLE, agents identified Ruiz Roche as the individual operating a drug distribution network trafficking fentanyl-laced methamphetamine throughout Hialeah and Opa-Locka. Investigators determined the drugs were being moved to street-level dealers who were distributing from area motels.

On June 18, the S.A.F.E. Task Force executed a search warrant and arrested Ruiz Roche. He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Detention Center in Miami-Dade County.

The case is being prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney for the 11th Judicial Circuit. The investigation remains ongoing.

The South Florida S.A.F.E. Task Force includes members from FDLE, the Doral Police Department, Florida International University Police Department, Hialeah Police Department, Medley Police Department, Miami Police Department, and Sweetwater Police Department.
