Teen Found with Drugs at Bonfire Near Flagler Estates

On Friday night, June 20, 2025, FCSO deputies, assisted by St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office deputies, arrested Kalissa Markley, 18, of Satsuma, for drug possession near Flagler Estates.

Deputies responded to a large crowd gathered for a bonfire and, while advising them to leave, found Markley asleep in the passenger seat of a parked vehicle. After waking her, they observed a bottle of alcohol and drug paraphernalia on the backseat floorboard.

As Markley exited the vehicle, deputies saw her drop a bag, which was later determined to contain cocaine and methamphetamine. A BB gun was also found in her pocket. A search of the vehicle yielded marijuana, hashish, a digital scale, and additional drug paraphernalia.

Markley was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, possession of hashish, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, and possession of liquor by a person under 21. She was released from the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on a $2,000 bond.

Sheriff Rick Staly emphasized, “Flagler Estates is a remote area that straddles Flagler and St. Johns counties. She and her friends have now learned that we will not tolerate illegal behavior no matter how remote it is. Do not trespass on private property to party, especially with narcotics as you will be arrested and taken from the woods to the Green Roof Inn.”
