State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced today that a Clay County jury has found Bryan Harvey guilty of Trafficking in Fentanyl and Trafficking in Methamphetamine. With this verdict, Harvey faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Steven Whittington will preside over Harvey’s sentencing at a later date.
The charges stem from an incident on January 23, 2025, when detectives with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office conducted surveillance in Middleburg. They observed the driver of an SUV fail to stop at a stop sign and subsequently initiated a traffic stop. Harvey, who was in the front passenger seat, was found to have an active arrest warrant and was detained.
As Harvey exited the SUV, detectives observed a bag containing pills on his seat and another bag with a crystal-like substance on the front passenger floorboard. K9 units were deployed and alerted to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle. A further search revealed additional narcotics hidden inside a cigarette pack located between the front passenger seat and the console where Harvey had been seated.
The case was investigated by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Richard Natto Jr. and Brandi Moravek.
