Man Sentenced to Consecutive Life Terms for 2021 Gainesville Murder

Xaviyaun Jacquez Williams, 23, has been found guilty and sentenced to consecutive terms of Natural Life, 30 years, and Life in prison for the 2021 shooting death of 22-year-old Trevaughn Wilkerson. The sentencing occurred on June 26, 2025, following a trial in the case.

The incident dates back to Monday, January 18, 2021, when deputies responded to a shooting at a residence on SW 59th Terrace. Wilkerson was found with a gunshot wound and later died at a local hospital.

A thorough investigation identified Williams as the primary suspect, revealing that Wilkerson had met with Williams at the location, where an attempted robbery took place, resulting in Wilkerson being fatally shot.

Two additional individuals, Cornelius Allen, 22, and Jonah Maultsby, 20, were also identified as being involved. Both were located and arrested with the assistance of community members and law enforcement.

Williams was indicted on June 2, 2021, facing multiple offenses, including first-degree murder.

Authorities expressed their continued condolences to Wilkerson’s family and loved ones, thanking the community for their support throughout the investigation.
