Gainesville Man Arrested After Barricading Himself in Occupied Apartment

In the early hours of Wednesday, July 2, 2025, a Gainesville Police traffic stop escalated into a foot chase and standoff after 33-year-old Kendrick Rashaed Bullard fled from officers and ran into an apartment located in the 2200 block of SW 34th Street.

Further investigation revealed that Bullard did not reside in the apartment and was suspected of holding the occupants — a resident and a child — against their will. Officers issued PA announcements for Bullard to exit the apartment, which went unanswered for several hours.

Police then made forced entry and safely evacuated the two residents. The adult victim informed officers that an unknown male remained inside. Bullard was eventually located hiding in a bedroom closet and was taken into custody without further incident.

Bullard, who also had an outstanding warrant, is now facing multiple charges, including:

  • False Imprisonment (2 counts)
  • Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling
  • Resisting Without Violence

He is currently being held pending further legal proceedings.
