Woman Arrested for Murder in Domestic Incident on Westside of Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) has arrested Journee McGrew, 21, for Second Degree Murder and Tampering with Evidence following a fatal dispute on Manotak Avenue early Wednesday morning, July 2, 2025.

JSO patrol officers responded to a dispute at approximately 3:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they found 41-year-old Waduta Woodley suffering from multiple blunt force injuries. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) personnel arrived, but the victim succumbed to his injuries.

JSO Homicide and Crime Scene Unit detectives, in collaboration with the State Attorney’s Office, immediately launched an investigation. After reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses, detectives identified McGrew as the suspect.

Officers arrested McGrew later that day, and she was booked into the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility.

The JSO extended thanks to its officers, detectives, and partners for their diligent work and offered condolences to Mr. Woodley’s family.
