GAINESVILLE, FL – A routine trespassing call at a Gainesville condo community pool on Wednesday afternoon, July 9th, led to the arrest of a man wanted for capital sexual battery out of New York.
Multiple Gainesville Police officers responded to the 900 block of NW 21st Avenue regarding a trio of trespassers at a community pool. During their interaction, one of the suspects provided a false name and struggled to spell it.
Florida Highway Patrol was called to assist with their Rapid ID system, which positively identified the man as Daniel R. Shaffer, 43. A subsequent check revealed that Shaffer had multiple active warrants, including for Capital Sexual Battery (Child) out of Newark Village, New York.
Shaffer was transported to the Alachua County Jail.
