Alachua County deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress. The caller stated an unknown, unclothed female had entered their home through a window and attacked their children.

Upon arrival, deputies located Holmes outside the residence. After refusing verbal commands, she was safely detained.

Deputies learned from the family that their children were playing inside while the parents briefly visited a neighbor. During this time, Holmes, who is not known to the family, allegedly entered the home, took a purse, and removed her clothing. The children became frightened, screamed, and attempted to get help. One child was reportedly grabbed by Holmes while trying to escape. The parents quickly returned after hearing the commotion and were able to remove Holmes from the home, but she allegedly attempted to re-enter by breaking a window.

Deputies documented visible property damage and collected witness statements.

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the safety and well-being of residents, especially children, are a priority, and commended the swift action of deputies and the family’s courage. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious or concerning activity.
