JACKSONVILLE, FL – Gregg Gafford, 42, a former music teacher who taught at several Duval County schools, has been arrested on a warrant for lewd and lascivious molestation. Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) Special Assault Unit arrested Gafford in connection with two separate sex crimes cases.
Gafford was working at St. Matthew’s Catholic School on the Westside in 2023 when a child reported that he groped them during an after-school club. During the investigation, detectives also uncovered that another student had accused Gafford of sexual abuse back in 2011, while he was teaching at Normandy Village Elementary.
On July 11, District 5 Task Force Officers located and arrested Gafford on two outstanding warrants.
“Children are our most precious resource, and protecting them is our top priority. Anyone who violates their safety will face the full weight of the law,” JSO stated.
Detectives are actively investigating whether Gafford may have committed additional offenses against other students. Anyone with information is urged to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or email JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org.
