Man Fatally Shot by Jacksonville Police After Attacking Woman and Child

JACKSONVILLE, FL – A man was shot and killed by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officers late Tuesday night, July 15, 2025, after violently attacking a woman who was shielding a child inside a home in the 12500 block of Brahma Bull Circle.

According to Sheriff T.K. Waters and Chief Alan Parker, officers responded just after 11:00 p.m. to assist the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department with a combative subject. Upon arrival, officers heard frantic screaming coming from a locked bedroom inside the residence. After forcing entry into the room, they found a man on top of a woman, pulling her hair as she shielded a child.

Officers gave verbal commands for the man to stop and step away, but he continued to assault the woman. Officers deployed a Taser, allowing the woman to escape the room with the child.

The suspect remained barricaded in the room for over 30 minutes while officers attempted to negotiate with him. Eventually, the man exited into an open room but remained verbally combative and physically aggressive. Officers again attempted to take him into custody and deployed a Taser, but the man fought through its effects and continued resisting.

Three officers — including two patrol officers and a sergeant — ultimately fired their service weapons, striking the suspect. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. His identity has not been released.

The officers involved sustained injuries during the confrontation and were treated at a medical facility.

An investigation is underway by JSO Homicide – Cold Case Detectives in conjunction with the State Attorney’s Office, which will conduct an independent review of the incident.
