Gainesville Man Charged in 2024 Murder of Disabled Neighbor in Road Rage Confrontation

GAINESVILLE, GA — A 21-year-old Gainesville man has been charged with the 2024 murder of a disabled neighbor after a recent road rage incident led police to connect him to the unsolved case.

Logan Ryan Plumley was arrested following a July 21, 2025, incident in which he allegedly pulled a gun on two men in the 700 block of Jesse Jewell Parkway. According to authorities, the confrontation stemmed from an earlier road rage encounter. After the victims returned to their vehicle, they were approached by Plumley, who brandished a firearm. The men called for help from nearby firefighters, prompting Plumley to flee the scene. Witnesses provided police with a description of the vehicle and license plate number.

While investigating the gun incident, detectives identified Plumley as a suspect in the November 2024 murder of 64-year-old John Tracy Hill. Hill, who was wheelchair-bound, was found dead in his Green Hunter Lane apartment after a welfare check on November 16, 2024. He had suffered fatal sharp force injuries. Hill lived in the same complex and just down the hall from Plumley.

The Gainesville Police Department, working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, has been investigating Hill’s death since 2024. Officials now say they have tied Plumley to the murder.

Plumley is being held in the Hall County Jail and faces charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, and two counts of simple assault. The investigation remains ongoing.
