LAKE CITY, FL — The Lake City Police Department is once again asking for the public’s help in solving the 2021 murder of 29-year-old Deontay Lewis Farmer, who was fatally shot on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
At approximately 6:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to 810 NE Sam Court following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One male was found unresponsive with a severe gunshot wound. Officers initiated CPR, but the victim was pronounced dead at 6:51 p.m. by emergency medical personnel.
The deceased was later identified as Deontay Lewis Farmer, 29. A second male victim was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital.
The Lake City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement responded to the scene and began collecting evidence. Despite extensive investigative efforts, the case remains unsolved.
Chief of Police Gerald Butler emphasized the department’s continued commitment to finding answers. “We are committed to solving this case and giving answers to Mr. Farmer’s family,” said Chief Butler. “We believe someone in our community has information that can help. We urge you to come forward.”
