Cape Coral Man Arrested on 10 Counts of Child Sexual Abuse Material Possession

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has arrested Ricardo Luiz Rodrigues Rangel, 52, of Cape Coral, on 10 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, a second-degree felony. This arrest is part of FDLE’s ongoing statewide initiative to identify and apprehend criminals who target children and share illicit files.

The investigation began in May after FDLE discovered a peer-to-peer file-sharing user downloading child sexual abuse material. The user was later identified as Rodrigues Rangel.

On July 16, FDLE agents and analysts executed a search warrant at Rodrigues Rangel’s residence, seizing multiple electronic devices. Further forensic analysis of these devices revealed that they contained numerous files depicting the sexual abuse of children. Based on these findings, agents obtained an arrest warrant for Rodrigues Rangel.

Agents arrested Rodrigues Rangel on July 23 and transported him to the Lee County Jail. Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution is prosecuting the case.

The investigation remains active.
