Man Found Guilty of DUI After Pedestrian Thrown Through Window in Crash

JACKSONVILLE, FL — A Duval County jury has found George Oliver III guilty of Driving Under the Influence Causing Serious Bodily Injury, State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced.

The charge stems from a June 9, 2024, incident around 3 a.m. when Oliver, while speeding through a parking lot on Atlantic Boulevard, struck a pedestrian and propelled the victim through a nearby business window. The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Responding officers noted Oliver displayed signs of impairment, including glassy eyes and unsteadiness. He admitted to having drinks earlier that night at Jacksonville Beach bars. After failing field sobriety tests, Oliver was arrested. A breath test at the Duval County Jail showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.092.

Oliver now faces up to five years in Florida State Prison. Sentencing will be held at a later date by the Honorable Anthony Salem.

The case was investigated by the Atlantic Beach Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Andrew Szatkowski and Todd Conklin Jr.
