TAMPA, Fla. — A 29-year-old man is in custody after opening fire on two apartment staff members and barricading himself inside a vehicle at the Viridian Apartments on Wednesday morning, July 30, 2025.
Around 9:59 a.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of an erratic individual at the complex on the 2300 block of Campus Club Court. Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspect, Andrew Tsinkelis, had fired multiple rounds at a golf cart occupied by the apartment manager and assistant manager. The gunfire shattered the golf cart’s glass, causing minor injuries to the woman inside.
Two nearby apartments were also struck by stray bullets, but no additional injuries were reported.
Tsinkelis then barricaded himself inside a vehicle in the parking lot, at times pointing a firearm at his own head. After negotiations failed, the HCSO SWAT team deployed gas canisters and later used tasers to safely apprehend him.
Tsinkelis is now facing multiple charges, including:
- Two counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder with Firearm Discharge
- Shooting at or within a Vehicle
- Criminal Mischief
- Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm
- Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer
The investigation remains active.
